Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our safari representative will warmly welcome you and brief you on your safari. Transfer to your hotel at Serval Wildlife Lodge. Unwind, enjoy the ambiance, and prepare for your adventure ahead. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and brief about the journey to come.

Day 2: Wildlife Encounters and Hot Spring Relaxation

Start the day with an immersive visit to Serval Wildlife Sanctuary, where you will feed and interact with giraffes, elands, zebras, and even lions. Surrounded by endemic flora and set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, this eco-conscious haven offers a remarkable introduction to Tanzania’s wildlife.

Later, head to Chemka Hot Springs for a relaxing swim in the crystal-clear geothermal waters. The natural springs are a hidden oasis, with turquoise pools surrounded by lush vegetation. Return to your Arusha lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Into the Wild – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its massive elephant herds and centuries-old baobab trees. The park is also home to lions, buffaloes, impalas, and over 550 bird species. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a magnet for wildlife, drawing large concentrations of animals to its banks. Enjoy a thrilling game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park, then retreat to your lodge overlooking the Tarangire River.

Day 4: Journey to Northern Serengeti

Depart for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the Ngorongoro highlands with stunning views and wildlife en route. Enter Serengeti via Naabi Hill Gate and enjoy an extended en-route game drive as you head north timed perfectly for the Great Wildebeest Migration. The drive itself offers incredible wildlife sightings, with the landscape shifting from open plains to riverine woodlands.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti – The Great Migration

Spend the entire day exploring the Northern Serengeti, especially near the Mara River, where massive herds of wildebeest cross crocodile-infested waters. Witness nature’s most dramatic survival story, with predators lurking along the banks and tension in the air. Between July and October, this is the heart of the migration action. Your guide will position you at strategic points to witness the crossings, if the timing aligns.

Day 6: Optional Hot Air Balloon and More Game Drives

Start the day with an optional hot air balloon ride, drifting above golden plains at sunrise followed by a bush breakfast in the middle of the savannah (cost approximately $550 per person). The rest of the day is dedicated to classic game drives in the Northern Serengeti. Spot lions on kopjes, cheetahs chasing prey, and elephant herds near the Mara River. The afternoon offers more opportunities for wildlife photography and observation.

Day 7: Central Serengeti – Predator Paradise

Head to Central Serengeti’s Seronera Valley, famous for its high concentration of big cats and abundant wildlife. Expect to see elephants, leopards, lions, hyenas, and the elusive serval cat. The Seronera Valley is one of the best places in Africa for predator sightings, with year-round wildlife concentrations. Enjoy a picnic in the wild or dine at your camp before retiring for the night.

Day 8: Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Highlands

Enjoy a scenic transfer to Ngorongoro with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, a famous paleoanthropological site where the earliest human remains were discovered. This is where Louis and Mary Leakey made their groundbreaking discoveries, changing our understanding of human evolution. Arrive at your lodge in the Ngorongoro highlands and enjoy a peaceful crater rim walk at sunset, taking in the breathtaking views of the caldera below.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the densest wildlife population in Africa. The crater floor supports approximately 25,000 large mammals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and the critically endangered black rhinoceros. Expect sightings of the Big Five and flocks of pink flamingos at Lake Magadi. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pools before ascending back to the crater rim in the evening.

Day 10: Farewell Tanzania

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge before transferring back to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have the opportunity to visit local markets for last-minute souvenirs.
