Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park & Evening Game Drive
Your guide will pick you up from Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast for a short briefing on the safari. You will then embark on a scenic drive via the Masaka–Mbarara highway, with a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a brief demonstration of the Coriolis effect.
Arrive at Lake Mburo National Park in time for lunch. After a short rest, embark on an evening game drive, where you may spot zebras, impalas, topis, elands, buffaloes, and giraffes. The late afternoon offers excellent lighting for photography and wildlife observation.

Day 2: Walking Safari & Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, head to the Rwonyo Tourism Center for a briefing before starting your guided walking safari at approximately 10:00 AM. The walk will take approximately three hours, covering diverse landscapes from savannah plains to woodland.
Lake Mburo is one of the few parks in Uganda where walking safaris are allowed, and the absence of lions and elephants makes it safe for visitors to walk with an armed ranger. Along the way, you will have close encounters with zebras, elands, buffaloes, impalas, topis, warthogs, and various bird species. An experienced park ranger will provide insights into the park’s ecosystem, animal tracks, plants, and the delicate balance of nature.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you will see hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds such as African fish eagles, pied kingfishers, and cormorants. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala
Wake up at your leisure and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. After check-out, take a final game drive as you exit the park, offering another chance to spot wildlife. Lunch will be provided en route. Upon arrival in Kampala or Entebbe, your guide will drop you at your hotel or the airport, depending on your schedule.

Walking Safari Details
Walking safaris in Lake Mburo are led by experienced, armed Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers who are experts in tracking, bushcraft, and wildlife behavior. The walks typically last 2–3 hours and cover around 4–5 kilometres, allowing you to explore the varied habitats of the park at a slow, deliberate pace.
You will have the opportunity to see tracks, dung, and other signs left by the diverse wildlife in the park, learning to interpret the bush as you go. The absence of predators like lions and elephants makes Lake Mburo one of the few places in Uganda where walking safaris are allowed, allowing visitors to approach animals on foot without risk.
