Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive northwest toward the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, with stunning views of the escarpment and the valley floor below. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge.
In the afternoon, head out for a game drive across the park’s diverse landscapes acacia woodlands, rocky escarpments, and the lakeshore itself. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingo populations, which often gather in their thousands along the soda-rich waters, painting the shoreline pink. The park is also a rhino sanctuary, home to both black and white rhinos, making it one of the best places in Kenya to see these endangered creatures.
During your game drive, you may also spot Rothschild’s giraffes, waterbucks, buffaloes, zebras, and lions. The park’s acacia woodlands are home to leopards, and the lakeshore attracts a variety of waterbirds, including pelicans, cormorants, and fish eagles.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Wake early for a final morning game drive in Lake Nakuru. The early morning light offers excellent photographic opportunities, and the wildlife is most active during the cooler hours. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Depart Lake Nakuru and drive south to Lake Naivasha, approximately a 2-hour journey through the scenic Rift Valley landscape. The drive passes through agricultural lands and small towns, with views of the valley floor spreading beneath you.
Arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch at your lakeside lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the lake. The boat glides across the freshwater lake, bringing you face-to-face with pods of hippos, fish eagles diving for their catch, and a spectacular variety of waterbirds. Kingfishers, herons, cormorants, and the African fish eagle are all commonly spotted. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight, with the sounds of the lake settling around you.

Day 3: Lake Naivasha Exploration
Today is a relaxed day of exploration at your own pace. After breakfast, you have several options to choose from.
Option 1: Crescent Island Walking Safari
Take a short boat ride to Crescent Island, a private sanctuary where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other wildlife. This is one of the few places in Kenya where you can experience a walking safari without fences, offering close encounters with animals in their natural habitat.
Option 2: Birdwatching Along the Lake
Lake Naivasha is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 400 species recorded in the area. Spend the day along the lake’s edge, spotting herons, kingfishers, pelicans, and the famous African fish eagle.
Option 3: Guided Nature Walk
Take a guided walk through the lakeside forests and wetlands, learning about the local flora, birdlife, and the lake’s ecology. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha to Nairobi
After a leisurely breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi. The drive takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, with scenic views of the Great Rift Valley along the way. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey, carrying with you memories of flamingos, rhinos, and the tranquil beauty of Kenya’s lake ecosystems.
