Day 1: Arrival – Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Usoke Explorers. You will be transferred to your lodge in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through the park and serves as a vital water source during the dry season. The park is renowned for its dense elephant population (over 3,000 individuals) and iconic baobab landscapes .

Enjoy a full-day game drive along the Tarangire River, where you will encounter:

• Elephants – Herds of up to 300 individuals congregating by the river

• Lions and leopards – Often seen stalking prey along the riverbanks

• Giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and buffalo – Large herds grazing across the plains

• Over 550 bird species – Including the lilac-breasted roller and yellow-collared lovebird

Wildlife Photography Tip: The Tarangire River provides excellent opportunities for capturing wildlife at water sources, especially during the dry season (June–October) .

Day 3: Tarangire – Central Serengeti

After breakfast, depart Tarangire and travel through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Serengeti National Park. The drive itself is a game-viewing experience, with wildlife frequently spotted along the route—including baboons, zebras, giraffes, and elephants.

Pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll have the chance to stop at the crater viewpoint for breathtaking photos of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Afternoon Game Drive

Arrive in the Serengeti in time for an afternoon game drive in the Seronera Valley, a predator-rich region in the central Serengeti . The Seronera Valley is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife, including:

• Lions – Large prides often seen lounging on kopjes

• Leopards – Frequently spotted resting in acacia or sausage trees

• Cheetahs – Often seen hunting on the open plains

• Elephants, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests – Abundant throughout the area

Days 4–6: Serengeti Migration Tracking

These three days are dedicated entirely to following the Great Migration. Your guide will coordinate with other guides and park rangers to locate the herds and position you for the best sightings.

Daily Routine:

• Early Morning Drive – Depart before sunrise to catch predators during peak hunting hours

• Midday Rest – Return to camp for breakfast and rest during the hottest part of the day

• Afternoon Drive – Reposition toward the herds based on ranger updates and guide coordination

Where the herds go, the predators follow. The Serengeti’s predator population is among the densest in Africa:

• Lions – Over 3,000 lions, the largest population on the continent

• Leopards – Around 1,000 leopards, often found in the Seronera Valley

• Cheetahs – The fastest land animals, often seen hunting on the open plains

• Spotted Hyenas – Large clans, often seen scavenging or hunting

Optional Hot-Air Balloon Safari (additional cost):

Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

After a morning game drive, depart the Serengeti and head toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at the crater rim in time for lunch.

Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day safari. The crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, spanning over 100 square miles . It is home to over 25,000 large animals, making it one of the densest wildlife areas in Africa.

Wildlife Highlights:

• Black Rhinos – One of the best places in East Africa to see them

• Lions – One of the densest lion populations in the world

• Hippos – Hundreds wallowing in the crater’s lakes and pools

Day 8: Return to Arusha

Farewell to the Wild

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands, passing through lush farmland and traditional villages.

Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon. You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
