Day 01 : Arrival in Arusha + Pre-Trek Briefing

Your Mount Meru trekking adventure begins with arrival at either Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport. A friendly driver from Green Kili Expeditions will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha.
In the evening, you’ll receive a comprehensive pre-climb briefing to go over the route, safety protocols, and gear checklist. If you need to rent equipment, we’ll assist you in getting the right gear from trusted local outfitters.

Day 02 : Arusha to Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

The day starts with a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Arusha to Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park. After registration and park formalities, we begin the hike.

Expect a stunning trail that offers breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the shimmering Momella Lakes, and abundant wildlife such as Giraffes, Cape Buffaloes, Bushbucks, and Warthogs. The trail leads through montane forests and open grasslands until we reach Miriakamba Hut, our first overnight stop.

Day 03 : Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut + Acclimatization Hike to Little Meru

Today’s ascent follows a steep ridge trail with expansive views of the Meru Crater, the Ash Cone, and the surrounding forest. Along the way, you’ll likely encounter Colobus Monkeys and perhaps even Cape Buffaloes. After reaching Saddle Hut, we rest before a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,810m).

This acclimatization hike helps prepare your body for the summit push tomorrow and rewards you with panoramic views of the Arusha National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Day 04 : Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak Summit to Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate

Summit day begins early—just after midnight. After a light snack, we start the most challenging part of the climb. The final ascent to Socialist Peak (4562m) is steep, rocky, and exhilarating.

You’ll climb through alpine desert, past dramatic ridges and cliffs. From the summit, take in a spectacular sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as sweeping views of the Meru Crater, Ash Cone, and surrounding plains.

After celebrating your summit success, we descend back to Miriakamba Hut and continue further down to Momella Gate, completing the full loop.
