Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park, Afternoon Game Drive

Your birding adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe . Your professional driver-guide will welcome you with a safari briefing before embarking on a scenic drive southwest to Lake Mburo National Park. The journey takes approximately 4 hours, passing through lush farmlands, rolling hills, and traditional Ugandan villages.

Along the way, you will stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for refreshments and a photo opportunity, where you can stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere.

Arrive at your lodge in the early afternoon and enjoy a relaxed lunch while taking in views of the surrounding wilderness. After settling in, head out for your first afternoon game drive across the park’s savannah and acacia woodlands . This drive is an excellent introduction to the park’s birdlife, with sightings of zebras, impalas, buffalos, and if lucky, elands and giraffes.

As the sun softens, the landscape glows with warm colours, making this drive especially rewarding. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, preparing for a full day of birding exploration tomorrow.
