Day 1 – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala, where you will meet your professional safari guide. After a brief introduction and orientation about the journey ahead, you will begin the scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity and dense tropical rainforest. The park protects nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it one of the most important conservation areas for these endangered primates.

Besides gorillas, the park is home to an impressive variety of wildlife including:

• Rwenzori colobus monkeys

• L’Hoest’s monkeys

• Forest elephants

• Over 350 bird species

• Rare reptiles and amphibians

After arriving in the Buhoma sector of the park, you will check in at your lodge and later enjoy a community visit. This cultural experience allows you to interact with local residents and learn about traditional lifestyles and conservation efforts in the region.

In the evening, you will relax at your lodge while preparing for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Accommodation – Buhoma Community Rest Camp

Buhoma Community Rest Camp is one of the longest-standing lodges in Bwindi and is located just outside the entrance gate of the park in the Buhoma sector.

Established by a local community development association in the early 1990s, the camp plays an important role in supporting community-based tourism and conservation initiatives.

The lodge offers comfortable accommodation surrounded by lush forest, providing a peaceful environment for guests visiting the park.

One of its highlights is the raised wooden restaurant, which offers beautiful views into the forest canopy where guests can often see monkeys and birds moving through the trees.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking Experience

This is the most exciting day of your safari.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. During this session, visitors are informed about gorilla trekking guidelines, safety rules, and conservation practices.

You will then be assigned to a habituated gorilla family group and begin your guided trek through the forest.

The trekking experience can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. As you move through the dense jungle with experienced guides and trackers, you may encounter various wildlife species and unique plant life.

Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watching these gentle giants interact, feed, and care for their young is a truly emotional and unforgettable wildlife experience.

After the trek, you will return to the lodge to relax and reflect on the day’s incredible encounter.

Day 3 – Return to Kampala

After breakfast, you will begin the journey back to Kampala, passing through Uganda’s beautiful countryside.

Your guide will ensure a comfortable drive with stops along the way if necessary.

Upon arrival in Kampala, you will be dropped off at your hotel or preferred location, marking the end of your memorable gorilla trekking safari.
