Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe Airport to Lake Mburo National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your Usoke Explorers guide will welcome you. After a short briefing, you will drive southwest to Lake Mburo National Park (approx. 4 hours). The journey introduces you to Uganda’s rolling hills, lush countryside, and vibrant roadside life. Arrive in the late afternoon, check into your prepared Lodge, and head out for an evening game drive. Lake Mburo is known for zebras, impalas, elands, buffalo, and hippos. As the sunsets, the savannah glows with golden light – perfect for photography. Return to the lodge for dinner under the stars.

Day 2: Lake Mburo – Scenic Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a morning walking safari or boat ride on Lake Mburo. The walk brings you close to zebras, impalas, and birds. The boat offers hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. By mid-morning, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 5–6 hours. The drive winds through rolling hills, tea plantations, and lively villages. Arrive at your prepared lodge in the late afternoon. Settle in, enjoy the mountain air, and attend a briefing on tomorrow’s gorilla trek. Dinner is served with views of mist-covered hills.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This is the highlight of your journey. After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for registration and briefing at 7:00 AM. You will be assigned to a gorilla family and divided into groups of eight. Enter the Impenetrable Forest with ranger guides and trackers. The trek lasts 1–6 hours depending on where the gorillas nested. Terrain is steep and dense. Porters are available for hire – highly recommended. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them: the silverback, mothers with infants, juveniles playing. The experience is profound and life-changing. Return to the trailhead for your trekking certificate. Head back to the lodge for lunch and rest. Evening option: Visit a local Batwa community for cultural storytelling and dance additional cost.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kazinga Channel Cruise

After breakfast, bid farewell to Bwindi and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for 3–4hours. The journey passes crater lakes, tea plantations, and traditional homesteads. Arrive at your prepared lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel – a 36km natural waterway connecting Lakes George and Edward. From the boat, you will see hundreds of hippos wallowing in the shallows, Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, elephants and buffalo drinking at the water’s edge, abundant birdlife, fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, and kingfishers. Return to the lodge for dinner, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions & Transfer to Kibale

Rise early for a game drive through the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. These lions lounge in fig trees – a behavior found in only a few places in the world. You may also see elephants, buffalo, topi antelopes, and birds. After the game drive, continue north to Kibale National Park 4–5 hours. The drive takes you through scenic countryside, crater lakes, and lush farmlands. Arrive at your prepared Lodge in the late afternoon. Settle in, relax, and prepare for tomorrow’s chimpanzee trek.

Destination: Ishasha Sector – Queen Elizabeth NP

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale – Transfer to Murchison Falls

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing. Then begin your chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest – home to the highest density of primates in East Africa. The trek lasts 1–3 hours. When you locate a chimp troop, you will spend one hour observing them: swinging through the canopy, grooming, feeding, and communicating. Other primates (red-tailed monkeys, colobus, mangabeys) are also common.After the trek, enjoy lunch. Then drive north to Murchison Falls National Park 5–6 hours. The journey takes you through varied landscapes and bustling towns. Arrive at your prepared lodge in the evening. Dinner awaits, with the roar of distant waterfalls setting the tone for tomorrow.

Day 7: Game Drive, Nile Cruise & Return to Entebbe

Your final day begins early. Enjoy a morning game drive across Murchison Falls’ savannah. As the sun rises, watch for giraffes, elephants, and antelopes emerging from the grasslands, lions and leopards patrolling their territory, buffalo herds and Uganda kobs. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Then embark on a boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. The river thunders through a 7-metre gorge, plunging 45 metres into a rainbow-filled abyss. This is a spectacular finale to your Ugandan adventure. By midday, begin the journey back to Entebbe International Airport 5–6 hours by road. Arrive in Entebbe in the evening for your onward flight.
