Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Depart Nairobi early morning and drive through the Great Rift Valley, enjoying scenic viewpoints along the way. The descent into the valley offers breathtaking views of the escarpment, with Lake Naivasha and the distant volcanic peaks visible on clear days. Arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch and relaxation at your safari lodge or camp.
In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive across the vast savannah. The Masai Mara is Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve, home to the Big Five and the stage for the Great Migration (seasonal). Spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes as the golden light softens over the plains. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Masai Mara Game Drives
Spend the entire day exploring different sectors of the Masai Mara. Morning and afternoon game drives maximize your chances of seeing the Big Five lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos as well as large herbivore herds and predators such as cheetahs and hyenas.
Between July and October, the Mara River becomes the stage for one of nature’s greatest spectacles: the crossing of over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras. Your guide will position you at strategic points to witness this dramatic event, if the timing aligns.
A picnic lunch inside the reserve allows uninterrupted wildlife viewing. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara Exploration & Leisure
Wake early for a sunrise game drive near riverine areas known for wildlife concentration. The early morning is the best time to spot predators returning from the hunt and the soft light is perfect for photography. After breakfast, you have the option to relax at the lodge or engage in optional activities.
Optional excursions include a visit to a Maasai village, where you will learn about traditional customs, witness jumping dances, and gain insight into the pastoral way of life. A hot air balloon safari at sunrise offers a breathtaking aerial perspective of the Mara’s wildlife and landscapes (extra cost). Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Nairobi then Fly to Diani Beach
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. Upon arrival, connect to a scheduled domestic flight to the South Coast. The flight offers aerial views of Kenya’s diverse landscapes from the savannah to the coastal plains.
Upon arrival at Ukunda Airstrip or Moi International Airport, transfer to your beach resort in Diani. The evening is at your leisure, with the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean just steps away. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the resort, soaking in the coastal breeze.
