Day 01 : Pickup & Transfer to Kibale National Park

Your journey starts with a pickup from Kampala or Entebbe Airport by a representative from Usoke Explorers. You will embark on a 4-hour scenic drive to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal-Mubende road. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of crater lakes, tea plantations, and the Rwenzori Mountains.

Stopovers include:

  • Lunch in Mubende
  • Fort Portal Tour (optional): Visit Amabere Caves, the King’s Palace, and the Royal Tombs.

Upon arrival at Kibale National Park, you will embark on a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, one of Uganda’s best birdwatching spots. Here, you may spot:

  • Papyrus Gonolek
  • Great Blue Turaco
  • Hornbills, Weaver birds, Kingfishers, and Flycatchers
  • Several primates and mammals, including Sitatunga Antelopes, Bushbucks, and Mongooses

After the nature walk, check in at your booked accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02 : Chimpanzee Trekking & Birdwatching

After an early breakfast, you will carry a packed lunch and meet your ranger guide at the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking guidelines. You will then be divided into small trekking groups and begin your 2-4 hour trek to find the habituated chimpanzee families.

While tracking chimps, expect to encounter:

  • Grey Vervet Monkeys
  • Red-Tailed Monkeys
  • L’Hoest’s Monkeys
  • Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys
  • Olive Baboons

Upon locating a chimpanzee troop, you will spend one hour observing and photographing them as they swing through trees, groom, and communicate.

Afternoon Birdwatching (Optional) For bird lovers, an afternoon birding session along the Boardwalk Trail will introduce you to some of Kibale’s famous species, including the African Pitta, Green-Breasted Pitta, and Black Bee-eater.

After the activities, return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 03 : Community Visit & Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before embarking on a community visit to experience the local culture of the Batooro and Bakiga people. Activities include:

  • Traditional dance performances
  • Tasting local food
  • Visiting local schools and churches

After this enriching experience, you will begin the drive back to Kampala/Entebbe with a lunch stopover en route. Enjoy stunning landscapes of tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural Uganda before being dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe Airport.
