Find the right mix of excitement and peace in Eastern Uganda. This 4-day trip mixes the excitement of the Nile in Jinja with the stunning mountain scenery of Sipi Falls, which is located on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
This 4-day trip gives you a full taste of Eastern Uganda, from rafting over world-class rapids to hiking to three beautiful waterfalls and learning about real Arabica coffee culture.
Brief itinerary
- Day 1; Transfer to Jinja (enroute Sezibwe falls, source of the Nile and Mabira Forest)
- Day 2; Activities in Jinja (white water rafting, quad biking)
- Day 3; Transfer to sipi falls and cultural visits
- Day 4; Hike sipi falls and departure
Detailed itinerary
Day 1:Transfer to Jinja
Your adventure starts with a morning pick-up from your hotel, home, or Entebbe International Airport. After a quick briefing on the safari, head east toward Jinja.
En route
Sezibwa Falls
A heritage site that is important to the culture of the Buganda Kingdom. Take a guided stroll and hear about the spiritual history and local stories that surround the falls.
Mabira Forest
Go to Mabira Forest for a guided tour in nature. In this tropical jungle, you’ll find monkeys, a wide range of birds, and native tree species.
Keep going past beautiful tea and sugarcane farms until you reach Jinja.
In the Afternoon
- Go to the Source of the Nile
- Stand at the famous spot where the Nile River starts its 6,650-kilometer trip north. You can take a boat cruise to get a better look.
- Check out Itanda Falls
- See the beautiful scenery and fast-moving water in this strong part of the Nile.
Check in at your hotel for dinner and the night.
Day 2: All-Day Nile Adventure
Get ready for a full day of fun on the Nile after breakfast.
Things To Do
Half Day of White-Water Rafting- Take a ride on one of Africa’s most exciting rafting routes.
- With the help of skilled instructors, you can navigate Grade 4 and 5 rapids. Included are a safety briefing, equipment, and lunch.
- After enjoying your meal, ride Quad bikes a guided and fun filled adventure through small towns, forests and scenic Nile River banks. But for a more personalized experience, you can choose from extra Experiences(optional) i.e. Riding horses along the banks of the Nile, Tubing or a sunset cruise then go back to your accommodation in the late evening to relax and unwind.
Day 3: Transfer to Sipi Falls
Leave Jinja for Sipi Falls after breakfast. It will take around 3–4 hours. The weather gets cooler and the scenery gets greener as you climb mount Elgon. Sipi welcomes you with rolling hills, waterfalls, and views of the valley from all sides. Afternoon coffee experience, then join guided walks through villages and visit local farms to see how Arabic coffee is grown, processed, roasted and tasted with village farmers, learn about their daily life, enjoy traditional songs and performances by community groups plus storytelling and crafts.
Day 4: Hike to the Sipi Waterfalls and then back to Kampala/Entebbe
Get up and have breakfast with a view of the valley while breathing in the pure mountain air. A Guided Hike to the Three Waterfalls
- First Waterfall (85m) – Strong and beautiful
- Second Waterfall (65m) – Quiet and out of sight
- Main Waterfall (100m) – This is the tallest and most impressive one.
The journey goes through coffee farms, caves, and local towns, giving you a chance to learn about the culture and take amazing pictures.
Optional Adventure: Abseiling
For an exciting and memorable experience, go down 100 meters next to the main waterfall. After lunch, start driving back to Kampala or Entebbe. Get there by evening and prepare to catch your flight back home or to your other destination at the Entebbe Airport.
