Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali International Airport where you will be greeted with a private airport reception and a warm welcome by your Usoke Explorers guide. You will be transferred to a luxury hotel in Kigali, where you can unwind after your journey. In the evening, enjoy a romantic dinner at the hotel, with fine dining and intimate atmosphere setting the tone for your honeymoon safari.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, depart Kigali and drive north through Rwanda’s scenic countryside toward Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours, with stunning views of rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and the Virunga Volcanoes appearing on the horizon.

Arrive at your secluded lodge in the afternoon, with spectacular views of the volcanoes. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Enjoy the lodge’s amenities, relax on your private terrace, or take a gentle walk through the surrounding gardens. A private dinner can be arranged at your request.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Wake early for breakfast and prepare for the day you’ve been waiting for. Transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Rwanda Development Board rangers, where you will be assigned to a habituated gorilla family group. The trek through the forest is challenging but deeply rewarding. Expert trackers lead the way, following signs of the gorillas’ overnight nests, feeding trails, and vocalisations. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.

When you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watch the silverback survey his family, mothers cradle their infants, and juveniles tumble and play. This is intimacy with nature at its most profound, shared together. After the trek, return to the lodge for a celebratory lunch. The afternoon is yours to relax, reflect, and perhaps enjoy a spa treatment or a couples massage.

Day 4 : Luxury Retreat and Leisure

This day is dedicated to romance and relaxation. Your luxury lodge offers a range of experiences perfect for couples. Enjoy romantic experiences including spa treatments for two, guided nature walks through the volcanic landscape, private dining under the stars, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Virunga Massif. You may choose to explore the nearby lakes, visit a local community, or simply relax with a good book and the sounds of nature around you. Each evening, the lodge can arrange private dining experiences, allowing you to enjoy gourmet cuisine in complete seclusion, surrounded by the beauty of the Rwandan highlands.

Day 5: Return to Kigali and Departure

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of gorillas, romance, and the beauty of the Land of a Thousand Hills.
