Day 01 : Arrival
Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park Your 2-day chimpanzee trekking safari in Rwanda begins with a scenic drive from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in the southwestern part of the country. Day 02 : The Trekk
Rise early for a hearty breakfast before heading to Kyamudongo Forest, an area known for its high concentration of chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest.
Chimpanzee tracking starts at 8:00 AM. After a briefing at the park headquarters on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking, you’ll be divided into small groups (maximum 8 trekkers per group) and assigned a chimpanzee family to track.
Chimpanzee Trekking Experience:
- Your park ranger guide will lead you through the forest, following chimpanzee calls, footprints, and traces.
- The trek may take 2 to 5 hours, depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and the hiking speed of your group.
- Along the way, encounter other primates, exotic tree species, and a diverse array of wildlife in Nyungwe Forest.
Once you locate the chimpanzee family, you’ll have a full hour to observe and photograph them in their natural habitat. Watch as they:
